Nexsen Pruet, a law firm with more than 190 attorneys in eight Carolina offices, has formed NP Strategy. The wholly-owned communications subsidiary is comprised of a veteran group of professionals from media, public policy, public relations and business.
“Twenty plus years of practicing law helped me realize that businesses, particularly those that are moving into or expanding within South Carolina, need more than what a traditional law firm can provide," said Leighton Lord, NPS managing director. “Our clients need strategic guidance and direction from professionals with diverse backgrounds and deep, real world experience."
NP Strategy offers services including community assessment, crisis management and media relations, as well as project launch and stakeholder management. NPS does not lobby or run political campaigns.
“That’s an important part of what makes NP Strategy different from a lot of similar shops around town,” said NPS director Heather Matthews. “We are not lobbyists. We will not be pushing legislation or running campaigns.”
Former Chief Judge of the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, Billy Wilkins is a Senior Advisor to NP Strategy and elaborated on its mission. “Business deals are built on trust," said Wilkins. "Because we have such deep roots here, we can help to build relationships between business, government and community leaders to create jobs and grow our economy.”
